Volkmann Collaborates with HP to Offer Contained Metal Powder Handling Solution for Metal Jet Printers

Semi-Automated System to Integrate Part Depowdering, Cleaning, Refilling, and Recovery

Bristol, PA: Metal powder conveying equipment manufacturer Volkmann GmbH, Soest, Germany, today announced a collaboration with HP Additive Manufacturing Solutions. Via the global collaboration, the HP Metal Jet S100 line of 3D printers can be equipped with a proprietary Volkmann contained metal powder management system designed specifically for HP’s renowned binder jetting technology platform. The collaboration aims to provide HP’s metal additive manufacturing customers with a semi-automated, entry level option for parts cleaning, powder recovery, and refilling, alongside its existing, fully automated solution.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Volkmann on the vPort system, a solution for powder handling for the HP Metal Jet S100 Printer,” says Alexandre Tartas, Global Head of Sales & GTM Metals, HP Additive Manufacturing Solutions. “This system combines safety for operations and operators with efficient workflow and processes. Easy to use and installed in a couple of days, customers can start production of high-quality end-use parts to secure or restore their supply chain.”

The contained metal powder management system integrates Volkmann’s PowTReX basic for powder sieving, recovery, and transfer with the company’s signature vacuum conveyor, glove box and locking dock sealing and containing the HP build unit. The new vPort system is available in the United States, Canada, and Europe via Volkmann.
